Sanjeev Chopra, Secretary of the Department of Food and Public Distribution (DFPD), chaired a meeting today with the States’ Cane Commissioners and Directors (Sugar) to discuss various issues related to the sugar sector and strategies for the upcoming Sugar Season 2024-25, aimed at strengthening the country’s sugar industry.
Additionally, the Department of Food and Public Distribution, in collaboration with the Food Corporation of India (FCI), conducted a workshop today for grain and dual feed-based ethanol distilleries to help them register seamlessly on the e-auction portal for purchasing FCI rice.
The new sugar season will commence on October 1, and sugar mills are preparing to start the season.
