Punjab Agricultural University inks MoA with entrepreneur for Sugarcane Juice Bottling Technology

Punjab: Punjab Agricultural University (PAU) has partnered with entrepreneur Ajit Kumar Behera for the transfer of technology on the bottling of sugarcane juice. This will try to overcome several problems in front of food entrepreneurs to access distant markets and generate profitable prices for perishables, reported Krishak Jagat.

Developed by the Department of Food Science and Technology, this innovation offers a solution to the problem of preserving sugarcane juice for extended periods.

To promote the use of this technology, PAU has signed a Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) with entrepreneur Mr Ajit Kumar Behera, who runs the brand ‘Ash Udyog’ in Dangapal, Odisha. The agreement was formalized by Dr AS Dhatt, Director of Research at PAU, and Mr Behera.

Vice-Chancellor of PAU, Dr Satbir Singh Gosal, along with Dr Dhatt, lauded the efforts of Dr Poonam A. Sachdev, Principal Food Technologist, for her role in sharing the sugarcane juice bottling technology with farmers and industrial stakeholders across India.

Dr Sachdev explained that the juice undergoes thermal processing to eliminate microorganisms, extending its shelf life and providing a healthier alternative to roadside vendors. She noted that this extended shelf life opens up opportunities for marketing the product both nationally and internationally.
