Results of the State Cane competition for year 2019-20 declared

Lucknow: The results of the State Sugarcane Competition year 2019-20 have been announced by the Department of Sugarcane Development. Giving detailed information in this regard, the Commissioner, Cane and Sugar, Shri Sanjay R. Bhoosreddy told that a total of 107 applications were received from all over the State for this competition in different categories viz., Ratoon, Early Plant and General Plant. For harvesting of sugarcane crop completion fields, officers were nominated from the State level. The farmers have been declared victorious on the basis of the results of yield obtained from the level of designated harvesting officers.

Shri Bhoosreddy told according to the declared results Shri Subhash Chandra s/o Shri Surat Singh zone Todarpur, District Saharanpur, got first prize in ratoon category for getting yield of 2329.50 quintal/hectare. Shri Satyaprakash s/o Shri Munshi of zone Shamli District- Shamli got second prize for getting yield of 1851quintal/hectare and Shri Ranveer Singh s/o Shri Ramnath zone Modinagar District Ghaziabad declared third for getting yield of 1388 quintal/hectare.

He also informed that in early plant category Shri Satyaprakash s/o Shiv Prasad, zone-Nawabganj, District-Gonda got first prize for getting yield of 2121 quintal/hectare, Shri Jagat Singh s/o Shri Swaroop Singh zone Chandpur, District Bijnor declared second price for getting yield of 2069 quintal/hectare and Shri Brahampal Singh s/o Shri Mathura Singh zone Dhampur, Bijnor has been declared third for getting yield of 1902 quintal/hectare. NO contestant was found suitable for the award under General plant category for this year. In this competition under each category the first prize winner will be given Rs.10000 and the second will be given Rs.7000 and third will be given Rs.5000.

The sugarcane commissioner informed that the main objective of this scheme is to increase the yield per hectare of sugarcane in the sugar mill areas of the State by instilling healthy competitive spirit among sugarcane farmers. He informed that distribution of the prizes to winners of State Cane Competition will be done in a grand function in Lucknow by Hon’ble Chief Minister U.P. in gracious presence of Hon’ble Minister and Hon’ble State Minister, Sugar Industry and Cane Development.
