Maharashtra Assembly election: Over 44 sugar mills under BJP-Shiv Sena’s hold

Pune: Congress-NCP had ruled Maharashtra by keeping a hold on the sugar mills. With changing scenario, BJP-Shiv Sena has made inroads in the sugar bowl with clinching grip on more than 44 sugar mills from Congress-NCP hold. This has wrecked the opposition, and they will have to contest vigorously to manage majority seats.

BJP-Shiv Sena alliance has weekend the Congress-NCP by inducting the sugar barons on its side, and more are still have been flocking to the parties. In Kolhapur, sugar barons Sanjay Mandlik, Samarjit Ghatage, Chandradeep Narke, and Vinay Kore are with saffron parties, and now Dhananjay Mahadik has joined them. In Sangli, Prithviraj Deshmukh and Sanjay Patil are in the camp, and now Vaibhav Naikawadi has joined them. In Satara, Udayanraje Bhosale, Shivendraraje and Bhosle family have joined BJP.

In western Maharashtra, there are 119 sugar mills out of which 50 are private. Due to various reasons, many mills are not operational. Now 114 mills are in good condition, out of which 44 are having hold of leaders belonging to saffron parties.

Maharashtra will go for assembly poll on October 21, 2019, and the results would be declared on October 24.
