Australian Sugar Industry Set To End Season Early Owing To Dry Weather Conditions

Australia’s sugar industry looks geared to end it season so early for the first time in a few years which began in the month of May. The industry has already processed over 76% of the sugarcane into raw sugar. The crop has been drying out rapidly and therefore roughly around 1.5 million tonnes of cane has been crushed every week.  The production numbers due to the dry weather conditions resulted to be 1 million tonne lesser than the numbers chalked. The Australian sugar season this year remarkably went well in spite of growing concerns over the depressed outlook for world sugar prices.
