The Indian Sugar Mills Association (ISMA) said that India is likely to extend the limit of sugar exports by 2-4 million tonnes in the 2022-23 season. With this, the total export will go to 8-10 million tonnes in the current season, reports The Economic Times.
India exported over 11 million tonnes of sugar during the 2021-22 season (October-September).
The export of around 6 million tonnes of sugar was approved by the government earlier this month.
As per news agency Reuters, Aditya Jhunjhunwala, president of ISMA said,“Definitely there will be a second tranche … between 2-4 million tonnes, depending on production.”
This season sugar output in India would be around 36 million tonnes.
