Prices of both varieties of sugar climbed at the Vashi wholesale market here today following heavy demand from stockists and bulk consumers amid restricted supply from mills.
Small sugar (S-30) surged by Rs 110/135 per quintal to Rs 3,240/3,465 from last Saturday’s closing level of Rs 3,130/3,330.
Medium sugar (M-30) also rose further by Rs 100/126 per quintal to Rs 3,270/3,591 as against Rs 3,170/3,465 previously.
Following are today’s closing rates for sugar (per quintal) with the previous rates given in brackets:
Small sugar (S-30) quality: Rs 3,240/3,465 (Rs 3,130/3,330).
Medium sugar (M-30) quality: Rs 3,270/3,591 (Rs 3,170/3,465).
