Thailand’s 2018-19 Sugar Production Might Decline

Hanoi: This year the third largest sugar producer in the world, Thailand witnessed unfavorable weather conditions leading to diminished average yields of sugarcane. Due to which the year 2018-19 will have less sugar production than year 2017-18.
The US Department of Agriculture (USDA) said that sugarcane production is forecast to decline by 4% to 130MT in 2018-19 marketing year. Whereas sugar output is expected to decline by 6% from a record 14.7 MT in 2017-18 to 13.8 MT.
