Punjab: Morinda sugar mill registers good sugar recovery

Ropar: The Morinda Cooperative Sugar Mill achieved an sugar recovery rate of 10.38 per cent during the 2023-24 crushing season, which is higher as compared to other sugar mills, reported Tribune India.

As per media report, Mill officials claim this is the highest rate among sugar mills in Punjab. According to mill management, farmers delivered a total of 28.07 lakh tonnes of sugarcane to the mill this season.

General Manager of the sugar mill, Arvinder Pal Singh Kairon, stated that the mill had already disbursed payment till March 4 for their sugarcane deliveries during the ongoing crushing season, which concluded on April 8. The remaining payments will be settled by the mill in due time.

Chairman of the mill’s board of directors, Khushal Singh, along with vice chairman Sukhwinder Singh Mundian, raised concerns over the outdated machinery at the mill. They believe that the mill could achieve significantly higher output than the current figures with modernisation.”
