Chandigarh: The state government deposited Rs 100 crore in the bank accounts of sugarcane farmers on Saturday.
The funds have been transferred by Sugarfed to the accounts of sugarcane farmers, informed an official associated with the chief minister’s office.
With this payment, Sugarfed now owes dues worth Rs 95.60 crore which will be cleared by September 15. Once this amount is cleared, there will be no any pending cane dues to the farmers from the state-owned nine sugar mills at Batala, Bhogpur, Gurdaspur, Nakodar, Nawanshahar, Morinda, Fazilka, Budhewal and Anjala.
