Pune: As the sugarcane crushing season is about to end, 154 sugar mills in Maharashtra so far have shut their operations till April 19.
According to the state sugar commissionerate, a total of 190 sugar mills participated in the cane crushing operations in the ongoing season and they have produced 1047.50 lakh quintal sugar by crushing 999.50 lakh tonne cane with a recovery rate of 10.48 per cent.
Total 43 sugar mills from Solapur, 37 mills from Kolhapur, 23 mills from Nanded, 24 from Pune, 13 from Ahmednagar, 10 from Aurangabad and 2 each from Amaravati and Nagpur have closed their operations.
