The data from the sugar commissionerate shows states that 157 sugar mills in Maharashtra have participated in the cane crushing operations for the 2021-22 crushing season till November 28. These include 75 cooperative and 82 private sugar mills.
Total sugar production in the state has been recorded at 185.21 lakh quintal so far. Mills crushed 204.59 lakh tonne sugarcane and registered 9.05 per cent sugar recovery.
Solapur division is leading in the state with maximum number of sugar mills (37) participating in the cane crushing operations. The mills have produced 39.79 lakh quintal sugar by crushing 48.42 lakh tonne sugarcane with a recovery rate of 8.22 per cent.
Sugar mills in Kolhapur division have achieved more than 10 per cent recovery rate and the division has recorded the highest sugar production in the state so far. The mills have produced 55.33 lakh quintal sugar by crushing 53.77 lakh tonne sugarcane with a recovery rate of 10.29 per cent.
