Pune: Sugarcane crushing season in Maharashtra is at the final phase with 162 sugar mills closed their crushing operations till April 26.
According to the state sugar commissionerate, a total of 190 sugar mills participated in the cane crushing operations in the ongoing season. These mills have produced 1054.30 lakh quintal sugar by crushing 1005.47 lakh tonne cane with a recovery of 10.49 per cent.
As per the commissionerate, 43 sugar mills from the Solapur division have closed their operations including 37 from Kolhapur, 24 from Nanded, 27 from Pune, 16 from Ahmednagar, 11 from Aurangabad and 2 each from Amaravati and Nagpur.
