Sugarcane crushing in Maharashtra has entered its last leg as 174 mills have closed their cane crushing operations till May 02, 2022. The mills in the state have produced 136.99 lakh tonnes of sugar with a recovery rate of 10.40 per cent.
Sugar mills in Maharashtra have paid a fair and remunerative price (FRP) of Rs 36,380.13 crore, till May 15, which is 96 per cent of the total FRP payable at the minimum recovery per cent. State is leading in terms of sugarcane payment in the country.
