18 sugar mills in Uttar Pradesh have started the sugarcane crushing, with others slated to begin operations in the coming days.
According to the Sugarcane Department, 18 mills have already begun crushing and have crushed 16.42 lakh quintals of sugarcane. Furthermore, 55 sugar mills have released the indents for sugarcane, with a total of 12,93,188 parchis (receipts) having been issued.
As the new season commences, the Sugarcane Department is ensuring the expeditious settlement of pending payments from the previous season. Notably, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath’s stringent stance on unpaid cane dues has prompted sugar mills to initiate the process of clearing these dues.
