According to the state sugar commissionerate, 183 sugar mills in Maharashtra have participated in the ongoing sugarcane crushing season till December 8, 2021. It includes 92 cooperative mills and 91 private mills.
The sugar mills in the state have produced 260.69 lakh quintal sugar by crushing 280.63 lakh tonne sugarcane with a recovery rate of 9.29 per cent.
Sugar mills from the Solapur region are leading in the state with a maximum number of mills, 43, participating in the crushing operations and they have produced 57.74 lakh quintal sugar by crushing 68.03 lakh tonne sugarcane with a recovery rate of 8.49 per cent.
Sugar mills from the Kolhapur division have so far produced 76.19 lakh quintal sugar by crushing 72.08 lakh tonne sugarcane with a recovery rate of 10.57 per cent.
