As many as 190 sugar mills in Maharashtra including, 95 cooperative and 95 private mills, are crushing sugarcane during the ongoing crushing season.
These mills have till January 9, 2022, produced 536.89 lakh quintal sugar by crushing 547.09 lakh tonne sugarcane with a recovery rate of 9.81 per cent.
Kolhapur division is leading in the state with the highest recovery rate of 11.15%. The mills here have produced 145.96 lakh quintal sugar by crushing 130.94 lakh tonne sugarcane.
In the Pune division, 29 sugar mills have participated in the cane crushing operations and they have produced 112.19 lakh quintal sugar by crushing 112.11 lakh tonne sugarcane with a recovery rate of 10.01 per cent.
