Sugarcane crushing in Maharashtra is at its final stage with sugar production crossed 115 lakh tonnes for the ongoing crushing season.
According to the Sugar Commissionerate, till March 27, 2022, a total of 25 sugar mills have stopped operations including 19 from the Kolhapur division, one each from Aurangabad and Nagpur, and 4 from Solapur.
A total of 197 sugar mills participated in the crushing operation including 98 cooperative mills and 99 private mills. These mills have produced 1162.74 lakh quintal sugar by crushing 1120.04 lakh tonnes of sugarcane with a recovery rate of 10.38 per cent.
