29 nominations for sugar mill poll rejected

Kolhapur: As many as 29 nominations for the election of the governing body of Rajaram Cooperative Sugar Mill have been rejected by the election authorities, reports The Times of India.

The election for 21 seats of the governing body is scheduled for next month and around 237 candidates had filed nominations.

The major ground of rejection was that these candidates had not supplied cane to the sugar mill continuously for the last three years.

The sugar mill has been governed by Mahadevrao Mahadik for more than two-and-a-half decades.

“The nominations have been rejected for valid reasons,” said Amal Mahadik who leads the Mahadik panel.
