Kolhapur: 30 sugar mills in the Kolhapur division commenced crushing operations for the ongoing crushing season. Solapur is leading in the state with maximum sugar mills (34) starting operations.
As per the data released by the sugar commissionerate, 30 sugar mills in the Kolhapur division have produced 32.74 lakh quintal sugar after crushing 33.20 lakh tonne sugarcane till November 17.
In Pune division, 26 sugar mills have started crushing operations and mills have produced 26.73 lakh quintal sugar so far.
Total 144 sugar mills have started the season in the state including 74 from the private sector and 70 from the cooperative sector. These mills have produced 103.74 lakh quintal sugar with a recovery of 8.69 per cent after crushing 119.44 lakh tonne sugarcane.
