38 sugar mills see expansion in Uttar Pradesh over the last eight years

Lucknow: Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath emphasized the development of the sugar industry while speaking at a program marking the completion of eight years of his government.

He said, “In the last eight years, three new sugar mills have been established, six sugar mills have been restarted, and 38 sugar mills have undergone expansion. Currently, 122 sugar mills are operational in the state. From 2017 until now, sugarcane farmers have been paid more than ₹2.80 lakh crore for their produce. We have done more in eight years than the previous governments did in 22 years.”

He mentioned that ethanol production has risen from 42 crore liters to 177 crore liters and that modern technology has enhanced the production of paddy, wheat, pulses, and millet.

CM Adityanath also pointed out the neglect of the agriculture sector before 2017 and how the state, with its rich agricultural potential, could have become a leading producer in the country.

He further added, “The agriculture sector was neglected before 2017… UP has an abundance of agricultural potential and water resources… We could have emerged as a leading hub of agricultural production in the country. We could have multiplied farmers’ incomes with the help of technology. But before 2017, farmers were committing suicide… Farmer welfare schemes had been pending for four decades…”

A program was organized on Monday in Lucknow to mark the completion of eight years of Yogi Adityanath’s tenure as the Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh.

Uttar Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Keshav Prasad Maurya, Minister Brajesh Pathak, Minister Chaudhary Bhupendra Singh, and several other ministers and dignitaries attended the event.
