The National Policy on Biofuels-2018 has identified various feedstocks such as non-edible oilseeds, used cooking oil (UCO), animal tallow, acid oil etc., for production of bio-diesel. An indicative target of 5% blending of bio-diesel in diesel /direct sale of bio-diesel by 2030 has already been outlined under the National Policy on Biofuels-2018. Sixty one plants are currently registered with Public Sector Oil Marketing Companies for supply of bio-diesel produced from various feedstocks. These plants are operational in the private sector. At present, there is no proposal for Public – Private Partnerships (PPP) for manufacturing bio-diesel.
