79th Annual Convention of The Sugar Technologists’ Association of India shall be organized jointly with National Sugar Institute, Kanpur at the institute premises on 4-5th October 2021. On 4th October, National Sugar Institute, Kanpur is also organizing it’s “Foundation Day”. The convention is being organized on hybrid mode and is likely to be attended by over eight hundred delegates. An “International Sugar Expo” is also being organized on this occasion in which 50 stalls are being put up by reputed machinery manufacturers and also the technology providers.
Hon’ble Governor, Uttar Pradesh has kindly consented to inaugurate & address the Convention through virtual platform. The inaugural function shall be graced by Shri Suresh Rana, Hon’ble Minister of Sugarcane Development & Sugar Industries, U.P., Shri Sudhanshu Pandey, Secretary (Food & Public Distribution), Government of India and Shri Sanjay Bhoosreddy, Additional Chief Secretary, U.P.
On this occasion, “Life Time Achievement” award shall be conferred to six eminent elderly personalities who have served the sugar and allied industry for more than three decades. “Industry Excellence Award” shall be given to ten dignitaries/organization for their contribution in up-gradation of technology in sugar industry. The prestigious Dr. P J Manohar Rao Gold Medal shall also be given to an eminent expert for contributing in development of value added products from waste of sugar industry. In addition to it, “ISGEC Gold Medal”, “Dr. Bansi Dhar Gold Medal” and “J.P. Mukherjee Gold Medal” shall also be conferred to engineers and technologists for their specific contributions. “Noel Deerr Gold Medal” and “STAI Silver Medal” shall be given to the research workers for their excellent presentations and papers.
National Sugar Institute, Kanpur shall release its Annual Report 2020-21 and a documentary “Drive through NSI Campus” on this occasion. The Sugar Technologists’ Association of India shall release its publications, namely, Proceedings of the Convention and Directory of Sugar Factories and Distilleries in India and neighbouring countries.
During the convention “Gundu Rao Memorial Lecture” shall be delivered by Shri Sanjay Bhoosreddy, Additional Chief Secretary, U.P., whereas, Shri K P Singh, Director (Operations), M/s Radico Khaitan Ltd. shall deliver the “Mangal Singh Memorial Lecuture”. On this occasion, about 100 research papers shall be presented on various areas of sugarcane agriculture, processing and by-product utilization etc.
