Nakur, Uttar Pradesh: Sugarcane farmers under the banner of Bhartiya Kisan Union staged a demonstration for various demands including pending cane arrears. The farmers have stated that they would continue their agitation till all their demands are met.
Ashok Kumar from BKU said that the sugar mills are not clearing the pending cane arrears. Farmers are in financial crisis and they are unable to meet their daily needs. Despite this, the government is asking farmers to clear the power bills. It is not possible for farmers to clear the bills as they have not received the cane dues yet.”
BKU asked sugar mills to clear the cane dues. Sugar mills claim due to low sugar sales and financial scarcity they are unable to clear the cane dues.
