Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu: Favourable rainfall in the district has increased the farmers’ hopes of a bumper production of crops, especially sugarcane and turmeric.
The district continued to receive drizzle and light rain for the third consecutive day on Monday. The continuous rainfall helped in reducing the temperature to 28 Celsius. Good rain throughout the season helps in better crop production.
According to the news report published in The Times of India, S P Ramanathan, director, agro climate research centre at Tamil Nadu Agricultural University said, “We expect the cloudy conditions to continue for two more days or until Wednesday.”
