Roorkee, Uttarakhand: Sugar mills in the district are in the final phase of starting cane crushing season. Mills have speed up the repair and maintenance work.
Purchasing centres are expected to be allotted in the first week of October.
According to the media reports, there are as many as 77,000 sugarcane farmers are engaged in sugarcane cultivation. They have cultivated cane on 54,000 hectares in the district. The farmers want the sugar mills to start cane season soon.
