Maharashtra government conducts meeting on sugar industry issues

Mumbai: State government’s cooperative department conducted a meeting to discuss the issues related to the sugar sector on Thursday. The meeting was attended by NCP chief Sharad Pawar, deputy chief minister Ajit Pawar, Water Resources Minister Jayant Patil and Co-operation Minister Balasaheb Patil.

Pawar has also shared this information on his official Twitter account. After the meeting, he tweeted, “Attended a meeting convened by the co-operation department of state today to discuss the issues faced by the sugar industries in #Maharashtra with the officials of NABARD, State Co-operative Bank and Sugar Union. We mainly discussed three issues in the meeting viz. financial assistance for ethanol projects, financial assistance to sugar factories and restructuring of loans to sugar factories.”

He thanked the NABARD officials for taking a considerate view and for their assurance to examine all issues in order to resolve the crisis being faced by Sugar industries in #Maharashtra.
