The sugar mills in Fiji have till date crushed 1.4 million tonnes of cane during this crushing season. Graham Clark, Chief Executive, Fiji Sugar Corporation said, “The sugarcane crushed is 5 per cent more this year as compared with the same period during last year. The sugar mills have performed better this season as compared with the last two seasons.”
He said, “We are now busy loading the final bulk of sugar that will be exported soon. This will be the last vessel that will carry 30,000 tonnes of sugar to the UK. The loading will be completed soon.”
The sugarcane crushing season in the country is expected to finish by the end of November.
