Mumbai: Equity benchmark Sensex crossed the 44,000 mark for the first time in early trade on Wednesday. After touching its lifetime intra-day high of 44,051.66, at 10:03 am, the 30-share BSE index was trading 22.48 points higher at 12,874.35.
Similarly, the broader NSE Nifty advanced 0.15 points to 12,874.35.
PowerGrid was the top gainer in the Sensex pack followed by SBI, M&M, L&T, IndusInd Bank, ICICI Bank, Bajaj Finance and ONGC.
On the other hand, HUL, Titan, Tech Mahindra, Nestle India and TCS were among the losers.
