Egypt to buy 50,000 tonnes of sugar from Brazil

Cairo: State-owned sugar buyer from Egypt, Egyptian Sugar and Integrated Industries Company (ESIIC), has initiated a process to purchase 50,000 tonnes of raw sugar from Brazil. The company has issued a tender for the same and the deadline for the same is December 19.

Taking a step to protect the domestic industry, the country has banned the import of raw and white sugar but some exceptions could be allowed if approved by the ministers of supply and trade.

Recently, Egypt’s trade and industry ministry had announced that the country extended the ban on white and raw sugar for three more months.
