Sau Paulo: Sugar output in Brazil is projected to increase from 39.3 million metric tonnes to 41.8 million metric tonnes. The Brazilian sugar mills have geared up the sugar production amid lowered ethanol consumption owing to coronavirus pandemic.
The sugar production forecast has been increased by Brazilian Crop agency Conab. The Conab had released the forecast for the second time increasing its earlier forecast of 39.3 million metric tonnes in August.
Conab had earlier predicted sugar output to 35.3 million metric tonnes.
During 2019-20 sugarcane crushing season, Brazil produced 29.8 million tonnes of sugar.
Sugar mills in Brazil have the capacity to produce sugar or ethanol and they work as per the demand in the world market.
