Pune, Maharashtra: Sugarcane crushing is at a peak in Maharashtra. Till December 29, 178 mills were engaged in crushing operations and produced 382.93 lakh quintal sugar by crushing 405.11 lakh tonne sugarcane. The state has recorded an average sugar recovery of 9.45 per cent.
Kolhapur division in the state has registered the highest sugar recovery so far in the current ongoing season. Mills have recorded 11 per cent average sugar recovery. So far 37 sugar mills have commenced the crushing season here and produced 102.55 lakh quintal sugar by crushing 93.24 lakh tonne sugarcane.
As of now, Solapur division is leading in the state with 38 sugar mills in operation.
