Shivhar: Farmers from Shivhar, Sitamarhi, Champaran and Muzaffarpur are still hoping that the Riga sugar mill will start operations. The mill could not start crushing operations this season and is on the verge of shutting down permanently.
The farmers and employees of the mill have reiterated their demand for revival of the sugar mill while the mill administration has stated that it depends on the government to consider the revival of the mill.
Om Prakash Dhanuka, CMD of the mill said, “We appeal to the central government and state government to take note of the plight of the sugar mill and provide us financial assistance to revive the sugar mill. We urge the government to take steps to revive the sugar mill.”
