Hyderabad: As many as 20 workers associated with the Nizam Deccan Sugars Limited (NDSL) Sugar mill completed their 200 km long walk and reached Hyderabad to highlight their plight. They staged a Maha Dharna at Dharna Chowk in Hyderabad for their demands.
The workers under the banner of Akali Poru Padayatra (Hunger Struggle Rally) marched from Bhodhan, Medak and Metpally to Hyderabad demanding their employment benefits including salaries from the last five years.
The workers stated that they were laid off from work on December 23, 2015 without following any proper procedure. They claimed the process to be illegal and went to the National Company Law Tribunal (NCLT).
The State government went to the Appellate Tribunal against them and the case is pending there.
