Sangrur: Sugarcane farmers from the region climbed on a water tank in Sangrur demanding pending cane dues from the sugar mill. They have threatened not to end their agitation till the mill clears pending cane dues.
According to Tribuneindia.com, one of the agitating farmers said, “We have met almost all senior authorities of the district. Nobody is listening to us. We are already under debt and need money to clear it.”
The farmers said that they had launched agitation outside Agriculture Department last week and had called off after they were assured of clearing the dues. However, no steps were taken to release their dues.
