In compliance of the orders of Hon’ble Chief Minister, Yogi Adityanath to take effective steps for women’s empowerment and as per the order given by the Hon’ble Minister, Sugar industry and cane development department, Shri Suresh Rana, the Cane Development department have constituted 1060 women self-help groups in 142 cane development councils of 36 districts to provide employment, under ‘Mission Shakti’ campaign for the safety, honor and self-reliance of women. 592.42 lakh seedlings were prepared by these self-help groups and an average income of Rs. 11,500 per woman was earned during the autumn sowing season. Ms. Kusum, Chairperson of ‘Annapurna Self-Help Group’, Bareilly, and Mrs. Manmati, chairperson of ‘Maa Vaishno Devi Self-Help Group’, Ayodhya, were among 11 women selected from various departments at State level and honoured with “Mishan Shakti Award” for meritorious work in different fields by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath in the Jupiter Hall of Indira Gandhi Prtishtan for their remarkable achievements. on the occasion of International Women’s Day.
Giving detailed information, in this regard Additional Chief Secretary, Shri Sanjay R. Bhoosreddy said, In view of the immense possibilities of employment in Cane-dominated districts to provide employment to rural women , 1060 women self-help groups have been formed in 36 Cane dominated districts of the state and have been trained to prepare single bud chip and bud chip seedlings. The total number of female members in these groups is 13,550.
He said that 592.42 lakh seeding was prepared by these women self-help groups and 487.10 lakh seeding was distributed. With this, cane demonstrations have been setup in an area of 2,199 hectares. Due to which 17.59 lakh quintals of improved cane variety seed will be available for sowing. These women self-help groups earned an income of Rs. 1,461.3 lakh from the sale of seedlings and about 4 lakh man-days of employment has been created. At the time of autumn sowing, an income of Rs. 11,500 per woman was made and the average income would be Rs. 59,000 per woman during the year.
he also informed that through the creation of women employment in cane farming, new doors will be opened and due to the employment options availability, the morale of women entrepreneurs will be high and income generation will improve their standard of living. This class will be able to live dignified living at the rural level itself. From the year 2021-22, more women entrepreneurs will be added to this scheme.
