Pune: Sugar mills in Maharashtra have produced 997.12 lakh quintal of sugar till March 28. According to the sugar commissionerate, total of 187 sugar mills in the state participated in the crushing season and have crushed 954.91 lakh tonne sugarcane with a recovery of 10.44%.
As per the commissionerate, 20 sugar mills in the Kolhapur division are operating and 17 have stopped operations. From the Solapur division out of total 42 sugar mills that had participated in crushing operations, 33 have closed their operations. Total 68 sugar mills have closed their operations till date.
