Lahore: The district administration has fixed the rates of sugar in the retail market at Rs 85 per kg in the city.
Muddassir Riaz Malik, deputy commissioner, Lahore has issued a notification in this regard on Saturday and has directed all the price control magistrates to survey the respective areas and ensure that the rates are strictly followed.
“If any shopkeeper is found overcharging for sugar, heavy fine shall be imposed”, he instructed the officers.
The DC himself has started visiting the grocery stores and is inquiring from the public about the availability of sugar.
