Karimnagar: Sugarcane farmers under the banner of Rythu Ikya Vedika blocked the road in front of the district collectorate in Jagtial district on Monday demanding the revival of the sugar mill located at Muthyampet in Metpally Mandal of Karimnagar district.
The representatives of farmers’ Vedika accused the state government of arresting their union leaders before the protest. “This is undemocratic and grave injustice to farmers,” they said.
The leaders accused both state and central governments of betraying farmers with regard to the Muthyampet sugarcane mill.
The leaders had promised us before Lok Sabha and state assembly elections that our issues will be resolved but after winning the elections they have forgotten us, they said.
