Kolhapur: Sugar mills in Kolhapur have reported a recovery rate of 12% for the ongoing crushing season. As the cane crushing season has entered the last phase, sugar mills are closing their operations. In the Kolhapur division, 35 sugar mills have closed their operations till April 8, 2021, according to the state sugar commissionerate. Total 118 sugar mills from the state have stopped operations including 43 from the Solapur division.
Total 37 sugar mills from the Kolhapur division participated in the cane crushing operations this season.
According to commissionerate, 188 sugar mills in the state participated in the cane crushing operations and have produced 1027.75 lakh quintal sugar by crushing 981.61 lakh tonne sugarcane with a recovery rate of 10.47%.
