The administration discussed the challenges and issues faced by the sugar industry stakeholders in Fiji.
Commissioner of Western Division Mesake Ledua and Commissioner Northern Uraia Rainima convened the meeting with stakeholders and discussed the issues. The meeting also discussed the upcoming crushing season.
According to the Ministry of Rural and Maritime Development and Disaster Management, the meeting focused on addressing the issues of the stakeholders and focused on increasing sugar output for the upcoming crushing season.
Sugar Tribunal had recently announced the dates for the 2021 sugar crushing season. Lautoka mill will start crushing operations on June 4 while Rarawai will start operations on June 23. Labasa sugar mill will start crushing on July 7.
