Baghpat, Uttar Pradesh: Ramala sugar mill has completed the cane crushing operations by crushing more than target sugarcane.
Dr. R B Ram, chief manager of the mill said that the mill had set a target of crushing 86 lakh quintal of sugarcane for this season. However, the mill has crushed 97.12 lakh quintal sugarcane crossing the set target. The mill had to close operations as the cane grown in the region was finished.
Sugarcane crushing is in the final phase in Uttar Pradesh. Most of the currently operating mills in the state are expected to close by the end of this month, however, a few may continue to operate in June’ 2021. The current crushing season in the Western region of the State of UP got prolonged by a few days as most of the Gur / Khandsari units have closed their operations due to lockdown restrictions, due to which some of the cane that would have gone to them, has got diverted to the sugar mills.
