Lucknow: Uttar Pradesh government has launched a campaign of setting up ethanol manufacturing projects that will benefit the sugarcane farmers.
Work on setting up 54 projects of producing ethanol have begun and the construction is likely to be completed by the end of September. Apart from sugarcane, as many as seven projects for making ethanol from rice, wheat, barley, maize and sorghum are also underway.
Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath reviewed the projects on Monday and instructed the concerned authorities to speed up the work. He has asked the concerned authorities that there should not be any delay in issuing NOCs required to start the project.
Barring the Bundelkhand district, almost all the districts of the state produce sugarcane. The farmers used to sell sugarcane to sugar mills as well as Khandsari units and jaggery units. Now they have the opportunity to sell sugarcane to the ethanol-producing units. This will help in increasing their income. Responding to the call of CM Yogi, people have come up and shown interest in setting up ethanol plants.
According to the news agency uniindia.com, agricultural experts say that these projects will benefit more than 25 lakh farmers. It will also help farmers to increase their revenue.
