Patna: Bihar is promoting ethanol production in the state with an aim to become one of the leading ethanol producers in the country, said Industry Minister Shahnawaz Hussain.
He was speaking after reviewing a demo of an Ethanol-based cooking stove here yesterday.
He said, “After implementation of the ethanol policy, we have received proposals to set up ethanol based units in almost all the districts of the state. We have approved several proposals in the first phase and other proposals are under consideration.”
The minister said that several companies and investors were manufacturing products based on ethanol fuel in view of the state government’s initiative towards ethanol production.
The ethanol production policy in Bihar is set to attract more investment in the state. Prime Minister Narendra Modi on June 5, 2021 released the report of the expert committee on ‘Roadmap for Ethanol Blending in India by 2025‘.
It is likely that ethanol distillation capacities in the country would be more than doubled by 2025 and India would be able to achieve 20 per cent blending target.
