Lucknow: Shri Sanjay R. Bhoosreddy, Additional Chief Secretary Excise Department has told that preventive action is being carried out regularly by the department to control the manufacture, sale and smuggling of illicit liquor. In the previous week 1,360 cases were registered all over the state in which 30,418 litres of illicit liquor were recovered and 1,07,181 kg lahan for preparing illicit liquor were destroyed at the spot. Along with it, 393 persons involved in this act of illicit liquor were arrested and 04 vehicles were seized.
The Additional Chief Secretary has told that in the previous week, during a raid on a country liquor shop in district Saharanpur, 05 cases of adulterated liquor, 86 cases of illicit liquor and materials used in the manufacture of illicit liquor were recovered, 04 persons were arrested and an FIR was lodged under various sections of IPC and Excise Act. During the enforcement proceedings in Etawah district, 20 liters of adulterated liquor, 46 bottles of illicit liquor, empty bottles and lids of foreign liquor were recovered and a case was registered against 02 persons under various sections of IPC and Excise Act. Similarly, one liquor mafia under Jewar police station of Noida district was nabbed with 96 bottles of illicit foreign liquor and empty bottles, urea and 20 liters of adulterated liquor and case was registered against the said person at Jewar police station. In another preventive work in Noida district, 02 persons were arrested with 50 liters of adulterated liquor.
The Additional Chief Secretary has told that enforcement action would continue against the manufacture, sale and smuggling of illicit liquor. Apart from this, instructions has being given to the field officers to conduct the inspection of excise shops.
