Controversy over Mysore Sugar Factory (Mysugar) is refusing to die down. The farmers’ organisation has warned of protest if the factory is given on lease to any private company.
As per the media reports, the state government is planning to give Mysugar factory on lease. And it has been opposed by sugarcane farmers and Farmers associations.
Many sugarcane farmers in Mandya and Mysuru districts and workers were relied on the factory to run their livelihood. After the factory suffered heavy losses, the government closed the operations.
The farmers claim that the closure of the sugar factory has affected hundreds of cane growers and stated that they are against the government’s decision to lease the factory to a private player.
According to the news report published in thehansindia.com, State Raitha Sangha president Badagalapura Nagendra urged the government to take measures to revive the factory instead of leasing it to a private company.
He also warned of an agitation if the government decides to give the factory on lease to a private company.
