Persistent dry weather in Brazil is likely to affect the sugar production in the country. In a recent release, food trader and supply chain services provider Czarnikow has revised the sugar output forecast for the 2021-22 season. It stated that Brazil’s centre-south (CS) sugar production will be at 34.1 million tonnes, down from an earlier projection of 35.6 million tonnes.
As per the report, mills will be crushing around 535 million tonnes of sugarcane, less than the previous forecast of 558 million tonnes. It is the lowest amount since 2012.
The crops output in Brazil is likely to hit severely as the country faces its worst dry spell in 91 years. Country relies heavily on rainfall and hydro dams for irrigation of the crops and the scarcity of the rainfall will impact crop cultivation in the central and southern parts of the state.
