Coimbatore: Coimbatore-based ICAR-Sugarcane Breeding Institute is taking steps to ensure its technologies reach as many farmers as possible. The institute has issued licenses to two companies for using seven of its technologies. With this, the firms get a non-exclusive right to manufacture products based on the technologies for a period of five to 10 years depending on the technology.
The license issued to Nashik-based Celebrating Farmers Edge International for using technologies such as cane jam production from sugarcane juice, liquid jaggery, sugarcane de-trashing tool, soil moisture indicator, sugarcane rind removing equipment and sugarcane rind removing equipment. Also, it has been issued to Singanallur-based Sri Balaji Industries for the Motorized double headed sugarcane single bud cutting machine.
