KBJ Group to set up ethanol plant in Bihar

Since the government started promoting ethanol production, many companies are showing interest to set up their plants. Now, Mumbai based KBJ Group has entered into the ethanol industry and plans to set up the plant in Bihar.

According to the news report published in Hindustan.com’s Brand Post section, KBJ Group CEO Mohit Kamboj met Shahnawaz Hussain, Industry Minister of Bihar, on the 2nd July 2021 to discuss the ethanol prospects. The company is set to expand its operations in the Ethanol production industry in a collaborative venture with the Bihar government.

Kamboj said, “The Government of Bihar has lent great support and guidance to initiate this project. The plant will be set near farmlands to make raw material acquisition easier and increase employment opportunities in the neighbouring areas.”

The sugar companies in India are all set to enhance their ethanol production capacity with many of them have started announcing capital expenditure for the same.

Recently government had advanced the ethanol blending target from 2030 to 2025. The roadmap for ethanol blending in India 2020-25 was released by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on June 5 this year on the occasion of World Environment Day.

The government believes ethanol distillation capacities in the country would be more than doubled by 2025 and India would be able to achieve a 20 per cent blending target.
