Andhra Pradesh: Demand to reopen Bheemasingi sugar factory

Vizianagaram, Andhra Pradesh: Sugarcane farmers and the leaders of different parties intensified their demand that the state government should revive the Bheemasingi sugar mill located in Jami mandal of Vizianagaram district.

The leaders have conducted several meetings with sugarcane farmers in the region and have garnered their support to bring notice of the government on the issue.

According to the news report published in thehansindia.com, Bheesetti Babji, State working president of Lok Satta, CPI State committee member M Kameswara Rao and former ZPTC member B Pedababu have met MLAs K Veerabhadra Swamy of Vizianagaram and B Appala Narasaiah of Gajapathinagaram and appealed to them to extend support to farmers to reopen the sugar factory.

The leaders claimed that the government had promised to revive the sugar mill from this season but no steps have been taken in this direction. The farmers from the region produce around 40,000 tonnes of sugarcane and they are not sure whether the mill will start operations or not. The leaders stated that Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy had assured to revive the sugar mill on a priority basis.
